History

No information survives on the origins of this arrangement. It was probably composed a few weeks before the first known performance, on 29 January 1871.

Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto is a 'dramma giocoso' in two acts, to a libretto by G. Bertati, and was first produced in Vienna in 1792. The trio ("Le faccio inchino") comes from Act I (No. 4) of the opera.
