History

A sketch for a type of piano etude (in A minor) was made on the composer's blotting pad for 1885, together with a blank sheet of paper. On this same sheet he noted down titles for pieces which, it seems, together with the Etude were to make up a piano (?) cycle or piano suite: Etude in A minor, Marche funèbre, Valse 1, Valse 2, Mazurque, Mazurque, Russe, Russe, Rêverie, Scherzo" [1].
