Waltz for his Mother

Hello,

I have read many places that Tchaikovsky wrote a waltz for his Mother's death. I have not been able to find the name of this waltz. Is it lost? If it exists, what is it called? Thanks for any help you can give me!

I think you might be thiinking of the Anastasie-valse that Tchaikovsky wrote for his governess, Anastasiya Petrova, during a family holiday in August 1854. This was two months after his mother's death, but unconnected with that event (it's actually a light and cheerful piece).

This is Tchaikovsky's first surviving work, written when he was just fourteen. And, as usual, not available on CD yet...Performed by Inna Malinina.
