Sergei BorisoglebskiiSergei Alekseevich Borisoglebskii (Сергей Алексеевич Борисоглебский) was a Russian baritone with the Imperial Theatres, born in Moscow on 22 September/4 October 1863 (some sources say 5/17 October 1864). The son of the deacon of St. Sofia's Church in Moscow, he studied singing at the Moscow Conservatory from 1884 to 1890, where he was a grant-aided student nominated by Tchaikovsky. In 1890 he made his debut in Milan, and regularly appeared on the stage of the Mariinskii Theatre in Saint Petersburg (1892-1895) and the Bol'shoi Theatre in Moscow (1895-1908), as well as with the Italian Opera company. Sergei Borisoglebskii died in Moscow on 8 January 1927. |
