Pavel FedorovRussian dramatist and translator (b. 1803; d. 1879), born Pavel Stepanovich Fedorov (Павел Степанович Федоров, Pavel Stepanovič Fedorov, Pavel Stepanovich Fyodorov). His first light comedy—Peace from Turkami (Мир с турками)—was produced in 1853, and he went on to produce 17 plays, and 57 translations of French vaudevilles. He was the head of the repertory of the Imperial Theatres in Saint Petersburg from 1853 to 1879, and his influence played a significant role in the development of Russian theatre. Tchaikovsky negotiated with Fedorov over the staging of his early operas Undina and The Oprichnik, and in 1867 he wrote music to accompany for an amateur production of Fedorov's vaudeville The Tangle.
