Georgii Tchaikovsky

Nephew of the composer (b. 8 May 1883 in Paris; d. 1940), baptised Georges-Léon Davydov; known after 1886 as Georgii Nikolaevich Tchaikovsky (Георгий Николаевич Чайковский, Georgij Nikolaevič Čajkovskij, Georgy Nikolayevich Tchaikovsky).

Georgii was the illegitimate son of the composer's niece Tat'iana Davydova and Stanislav Mikhailovich Blumenfel'd (1850–1897), a music teacher. Georges-Léon's birth remained a secret from most members of the Tchaikovsky and Davydov families, and the composer provided financial and material support during his early years.

In 1886 he was adopted by his grand-uncle Nikolai Tchaikovsky (brother of the composer), whereupon he was brought back from France to Russia, and assumed the name Georgii Nikolaevich Tchaikovsky.
