Ivan Tchaikovsky

Army officer, and paternal uncle of the composer (b. 1785; d. 1813 in Paris), born Ivan Petrovich Tchaikovsky (Иван Петрович Чайковский, Ivan Petrovič Čajkovskij).

Ivan was the fourth child of the composer's grandparents Petr Fedorovich Tchaikovsky (1745–1818) and his wife Anastasiia (b. Posokhova, 1751–?). He became an army officer, awarded the Order of Saint George (4th class) for bravery, and was reputedly killed in Paris in 1813, fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.
