Pleshcheevo

Pleshcheevo (Плещеево, Pleščeevo) is a village in the Podol'sk region of Moscow oblast, Russia. During the composer's lifetime it formed part of the Podol'sk district (Подольский уезд) in the Moscow province (Московская губерния) of the Russian Federation.

Tchaikovsky stayed at Nadezhda von Meck's estate at Pleshcheevo on two occasions:

  • 3/15 September to 4/16 October 1884 — when he composed the Impromptu-caprice for piano.
  • 8/20 August to 10/22 August 1885
  • — visiting with his brothers Anatolii and Modest.
