Pleshcheyevo

Pleshcheyevo (Плещеево) is a village in the Podolsk region of Moscow oblast, Russia. During the composer's lifetime it formed part of the Podolsk district (Подольский уезд) in the Moscow province (Московская губерния) of the Russian Federation.

Tchaikovsky stayed at Nadezhda von Meck's estate at Pleshcheyevo on two occasions:

  • 3/15 September to 4/16 October 1884 — when he composed the Impromptu-caprice for piano.
  • 8/20 August to 10/22 August 1885
  • — visiting with his brothers Anatoly and Modest.
